What is the difference between a unit and credit hour in college

What is the difference between a unit and credit hour in college?
Here's the thing. I read of a community college in California that charges $20 per unit and a community college in Missouri that charges $90 per credit hour. That strikes me as strange. So I am thinking to myself maybe there is a difference between these 2 and if not then that is oddly a big price difference.

There is a difference -- and it is $70. Credit hours and units are generally the same thing. To double check, see how many credit hours/units you need to graduate from these schools. If they are the same number, then you know they are equivalent. Community colleges usually charge a different rate for in-state students than what they charge for out-of-state students -- so be careful before you decide where to go.
